The new PSP-3000 Model Slim & Lite is the latest version of the Sony handheld console. While succeeding the basic functions and design philosophy of the current PSP including a 4.3 inch wide high resolution LCD screen, overwhelmingly large for a handheld device, new PSP is 33 percent lighter and 19 percent slimmer than the original version.
Adding a video-out port enables new PSP users to experience high quality UMD (Universal Media Disc) Video, pictures and movies from Memory Stick Duo and game software titles on their TVs at home. Also, the new PSP is equipped with enhanced feature to temporarily store game data from UMD, reducing load time during game play. Moreover, the ability to charge the unit through PLAYSTATION3 or PC via USB cable during data transfer is newly equipped, further positioning PSP as a true handheld device.
Pack contains Black PSP-3000 model Slim & Lite console, AC Charger, FIFA 09 game |

There are several different TV docks out there but this appears to be the best as it does not void your warranty and it can feature a 4:3 and 16:9 image. The main feature has to be the PS2 controller usage which serves as an excellent control method. Will tell you more if I grab one as I am debating whether to upgrade.

Here is a good reason to upgrade to PSP 2000 Slim and Lite or the PSP 3000 Brite. They both feature TV-Out support and the original PSP does not. Many adaptors were released and they cost anywhere between £30-100. You can find them on ebay or at import game websites. Most of these adaptors void your warranty and can have serious side effects on your PSP.
If you want to share your media beyond the consoles screen on a regular basis then an upgrade is for you.
| So we mentioned the Team Xtender PSP 2 TV accessory some time ago, and then there’s this PSP On TV pyramid thing we mentioned today. And now there’s this Blaze PSP to TV projector that’s in the works. Clearly there’s a market here for people who want to be able to play their PSP games on their television screen, or maybe just for those who would rather watch their UMD movies on the large screen instead of their dinky PSP. Or maybe OEMs had a bunch of stuff lying around from the Gameboy era that they could unload and just retool for the PSP. The world will never know. The Blaze PSP to TV projector will be available |

The PSP just got a firmware update to 5.0 and the most significant feature is the Playstation Store built into the XMB (cross media bar), accessible over wifi. To upgrade switch on your wifi and select the system update under the settings menu. Upgrade online at the official Playstation site
The store gives you direct access to demos, videos, full games and more. You no longer need to download via a computer, which means cutting out the middle man but it could also mean longer download times. Now you can have direct access to new demos and games that become available. I will be using this feature for demos and videos only as the other files would be a larger drain on the battery.
