Learning through Sony’s PSP

Update to PSP 5.0 through your PC

This little site I found did a better job than me when trying to explain how to download the eboot file and put it on your memory stick so you could upgrade your PSP firmware to 5.0. So I’ve decided to share it here.
Some video files that did not work on the PSP now do! Codec supprt is the same but it appears to be more flexible with the file sizes and such.

How to update firmware

To update your PSP you will need to:
1. Connect your PSP to your PSP via USB or connect your Memory stick duo to your PC via a memory stick slot.
2. Create a folder on your memory stick duo for the update.

3. Download the update file, called an “EBOOT” and place it in the update file you have just created.
4. Go to “Game ()” on your PSP menu, select “Memory stick ()” and choose the update file version x.xx.

5. The update program will run, it will tell you what updates are being installed. Continue through the process and choose to accept the terms and agreements for the update. You will need to have your charger plugged into your PSP and 3 bars of battery power.
6. If the update was successful you can delete the update from your memory stick
