There are several different TV docks out there but this appears to be the best as it does not void your warranty and it can feature a 4:3 and 16:9 image. The main feature has to be the PS2 controller usage which serves as an excellent control method. Will tell you more if I grab one as I am debating whether to upgrade.
The PSP2TV first appears to be a simple docking/recharging station for your PSP, but it is much, much more! In fact with the PSP2TV, you will be able to play your PSP with any Playstation 2 controller on your TV.

Here is a good reason to upgrade to PSP 2000 Slim and Lite or the PSP 3000 Brite. They both feature TV-Out support and the original PSP does not. Many adaptors were released and they cost anywhere between £30-100. You can find them on ebay or at import game websites. Most of these adaptors void your warranty and can have serious side effects on your PSP.
If you want to share your media beyond the consoles screen on a regular basis then an upgrade is for you.
So we mentioned the Team Xtender PSP 2 TV accessory some time ago, and then there’s this PSP On TV pyramid thing we mentioned today. And now there’s this Blaze PSP to TV projector that’s in the works. Clearly there’s a market here for people who want to be able to play their PSP games on their television screen, or maybe just for those who would rather watch their UMD movies on the large screen instead of their dinky PSP. Or maybe OEMs had a bunch of stuff lying around from the Gameboy era that they could unload and just retool for the PSP. The world will never know. The Blaze PSP to TV projector will be available
This little site I found did a better job than me when trying to explain how to download the eboot file and put it on your memory stick so you could upgrade your PSP firmware to 5.0. So I’ve decided to share it here.
Some video files that did not work on the PSP now do! Codec supprt is the same but it appears to be more flexible with the file sizes and such.
1. Connect your PSP to your PSP via USB or connect your Memory stick duo to your PC via a memory stick slot.
2. Create a folder on your memory stick duo for the update.
3. Download the update file, called an “EBOOT” and place it in the update file you have just created.
4. Go to “Game ()” on your PSP menu, select “Memory stick ()” and choose the update file version x.xx.
5. The update program will run, it will tell you what updates are being installed. Continue through the process and choose to accept the terms and agreements for the update. You will need to have your charger plugged into your PSP and 3 bars of battery power.
6. If the update was successful you can delete the update from your memory stick
This video shows you how to convert a presentation in powerpoint or impress format into jpeg/gif images using Openoffice Impress. You then just put them over to the PHOTO folder of your PSP and then you have the slides as photos.
The PSP just got a firmware update to 5.0 and the most significant feature is the Playstation Store built into the XMB (cross media bar), accessible over wifi. To upgrade switch on your wifi and select the system update under the settings menu. Upgrade online at the official Playstation site
The store gives you direct access to demos, videos, full games and more. You no longer need to download via a computer, which means cutting out the middle man but it could also mean longer download times. Now you can have direct access to new demos and games that become available. I will be using this feature for demos and videos only as the other files would be a larger drain on the battery.
So its not just me who believes you can use the PSP to stimulate brain activity and learning. PLAY.COM have organised a selection of games under the banner of Brain Games. So why not visit them and get an insight into how sellers are noting the commercial benefits of educational software.
You can view my collection of Brain Games at my store.
The Game website has a rather in depth guide to gaming for parents. It is somewhat buried though. You can find it through the Help section of the site. It features good information on the BBFC and PEGI rating schemes, although you should visit the sites to learn more. Its main aim is to drive worried parents to relevant games on its site. It has good links to puzzle, family and party games that are available on a variety of platforms including Sony PSP, PS2 and PS3. I have organised my PSP Store and PS3 Store so that you can purchase relevant games, whether you are a parent, teacher or student. I will continue to update the store montly.
If true, the text RSS feature could allow for greater intergration of news, weather and ‘this day in…’ updates. History Teachers could have students update the RSS feed so they can find out and discuss events in the past that occured in that day in History. History teachers might use the information to spark off debate or as a opening to a lesson. There are many This Day in… sites for all sorts of topics ranging from Maths to Science. I will definately be exploring the possibilities when this comes to pass.
The screen capture could be a great asset to a teacher trying to sell the idea of PSP use in the classroom, as they could show actual usage alongside proposals.
It wasn’t too long ago that firmware 4.0 (and higher) dropped on our laps, and we’re already hearing about the next major revision to hit the handheld: the big five-o. The word on the street (and by street we mean French website PSPGen) is that firmware 5.0 is currently in the hands of an unknown French dev studio and it will include several key features such as that direct-to-PS Store functionality we’ve heard so much about.
Other features like a revamped RSS reader would (*gasp*) be able to read text files. The inclusion of a screen capture tool echoes another rumor which is also said to be available in the upcoming PS3 Firmware 2.5. Regarding this, parallel development for screen grabs does seem to make a whole lot of sense.
